Between waterfalls, craters and beaches - Welcome to HAWAII

When I thought of the Hawaiian landscape, I had beaches, surfing and palmtrees in mind. Little did I know that it also can be lush green and super foggy . Hawaii is a paradise for hikers. There are so many ridge trails with incredible vistas. You can be standing in the middle of a tropical forest and look down to a beach with incredibly blue water, watching people surf. The scenery is so divers, even on one island. One of my highlights was definitely driving up the Haleakala Crater in the middle of the night to watch the sunrise. We had the perfect conditions and stayed until the sun was fully up. We visited Maui and Kauai, and rented a car on both islands. While the Jeep Wrangler was perfect to get around on Maui, the Toyota Prius on Kauai was more of a challenge. Nevertheless, it was an absolute blast.
