all around Page - Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend

Stop Nr. 1 - Page

On our way from Grand Canyon to Page, we intended on passing ‘The Wave’. Although we didn’t have a permit, we wanted to pass by, since the area still offers incredible views. Little did we know that we would have to drive on a small gravel road for 20 miles. Our big van was definitely not made for that… We drove past the Vermillion Cliffs and reached the Coyote Buttes, and in the end decided to not go for a hike, since it looked like it was going to rain. Dreading the flash floods (which are quite common in that region), we headed directly to Page, a city that is known for its proximity to some of the most spectacular natural attractions in the state. It is located near the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which offers stunning views of the nearby Colorado River. The river leads into Lake Powell, which has a unique shape. It is even recognizable from the plane!

Stop Nr. 2 - Antelope Canyon

The Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon are only accessible when you book a tour with one of the official tour guides. It costs about 50USD, but in my opinion, it is totally worth it. The canyon was shaped over millions of years by the power of rushing water. The walls were carved by flash floods that rushed through the canyon, sculpting the sandstone into its distinctive shapes. The canyon's undulating walls and curving shapes give it an almost ethereal look, making it a popular destination for visitors. The ideal time to visit the canyon is midday, when the sun is shining directly through the split. The combination of red stone and flowy shapes were beautiful to look at, and I had a hard time sorting through my pictures… I swear these are not all the same pictures, even if it might look like it.

Stop Nr. 3 - Horseshoe Bend

The Horseshoe Bend in Arizona is a three-mile loop of the Colorado River that offers stunning views of the canyon walls. The bend was formed over millions of years by the power of the rushing water of the Colorado River, carving its distinctive shape into the canyon walls. Unfortunately, my narrow lens was not ideal for the scene, since the bend is quite wide.
